My triathlon career started out at the Borough of Barnsley Swimming Club at the age of 8. I was never a world-class swimmer; I competed at county level on numerous occasions but never getting into the medals. At the age of 13 I competed in my first triathlon, the Ipswich Junior Triathlon.
Results 2007
The result of the year for 2007 has to be my 6th Place at London, the race went perfectly for the form I was in, strong swim, super hard bike, and then we had such a lead that it was going to be almost impossible for me to finish outside the top 10! But other than that I’m struggling to say any other results I am pleased with.
Lausanne World U23
My preparation in the weeks leading up to the race wasn’t the best, I had a massive two week block in which I got tired towards the start of week 2 and had to back off otherwise I would have got ill. Also on the Friday before the race I broke my wetsuit and had to get a new one shipped out to Lausanne for me!

Hey all! It was the National championships last weekend at Bryn Bach Park in mid-Wales- I really needed a good race there after the disappointment of my disqualification in the FGP, so the pressure was really on. On top of that, I was moving out of my house in Swansea, so it was stressful as hell for the week before! I felt in good shape though, coming off that huge block of training |

Goals 2008
In 2008 I have yet to set myself rigid performance goals, as I don’t know exactly which races I will be doing yet. However, I have planned to take part in the South African Championships on the 16th February, and then hit another couple of races somewhere in the world in April. Hopefully I will make the team for World U23 Championships, and it would be great to have a good race there, but I also want to broaden my horizons and venture into some 70.3, Non-Drafting, and possibly some X-Terra racing...... so I guess until I know more about what I’m up to its watch this space I’m afraid ;-)
