Goals 2009

2009 Will be my first year concentrating on 70.3 and Non Drafting racing, which represents a large step up in distance, and a shift in focus of my training. Hopefully, this new market will play more to my strengths, and allow me to use the swim and bike sections to my advantage, as opposed to drafting races where sometimes the swim and bike sometimes become irrelevant!

My main aim for the year is to get to Clearwater 70.3 World Championships in Novemeber, and have a crack at the Lifetime Fitness series in the US during the summer. I will also hit a couple of other 70.3's possibly in the states, and hit 70.3 UK in June. I will also race the French Grand Prix series for Vendome this year, and possibly look to hit some of the big domestic races in the UK, like London and the National Championships.

Coaches Print E-mail

I have been coached by Simon Ward, of  www.thetriathloncoach.com, since 2003 - and I think he probably knows more about me that I do about myself! Simon has pretty much compiled the knowledge of every other coach I have ever worked since I started triathlon and isn't afraid to source an outside opinion when he is unsure about an aspect of my training.

This is the reason I have a lot of respect for Simon, as many coaches get too caught up in their own knowledge, or are too proud to ask for advice. For this reason, when I receive my training from Simon, I know I am getting the best possible training, tailor made for myself!

Now I train in Leeds I see Simon on a regular basis, meeting up for run sessions down the canal, getting together for a post swim Bagel Nash, or hitting the gym for some Strength and Conditioning training.

Since moving back to Leeds, I have been able to work with Simon on a much more personal basis, which allows him to tailor my training down to every minute detail -it definitely helps having a coach there to point out the little things you don't notice yourself. Without Simon's help I wouldn't be the athlete I am today - so I'd like to thank him for his continued hard work and support! To the next 6 years!
