Goals 2009

2009 Will be my first year concentrating on 70.3 and Non Drafting racing, which represents a large step up in distance, and a shift in focus of my training. Hopefully, this new market will play more to my strengths, and allow me to use the swim and bike sections to my advantage, as opposed to drafting races where sometimes the swim and bike sometimes become irrelevant!

My main aim for the year is to get to Clearwater 70.3 World Championships in Novemeber, and have a crack at the Lifetime Fitness series in the US during the summer. I will also hit a couple of other 70.3's possibly in the states, and hit 70.3 UK in June. I will also race the French Grand Prix series for Vendome this year, and possibly look to hit some of the big domestic races in the UK, like London and the National Championships.

The result of the year for 2007 has to be my 6th Place at London, the race went perfectly for the form I was in, strong swim, super hard bike, and then we had such a lead that it was going to be almost impossible for me to finish outside the top 10! But other than that I’m struggling to say any other results I am pleased with. My form wasn’t as it should have been in 2007, due to a number of factors including early season injuries, the season coinciding with my final year at university and the stresses associated with a dissertation and revision, not to mention taking a high volume focus which I now know doesn’t work for me. I believe I learned a lot from my season however, and believe I am stronger because of it. Bring on 2008!!

2006 was my first real 'Competitive' year as an Under 23. I raced well early season, with promising swims in San Remo and Windsor, but when the real season hit around mid June I was flying. I was swimming and riding exceptionally well and my running was the best it has ever been. I built on this form throughout the year and had my best ever world championship performance - 13th, In Lausanne. With another Winter of strong run training now - who knows whats possible in 2007:)

  • 10th - Copenhagen ETU Cup
